QuokkaTools is a collection of small utilities for the jobs people most often do with sensitive files: cleaning the hidden data out of photos and PDFs, blacking out text for real, and converting phone photos to a format that opens everywhere.
Why "quokka"?
The quokka is a small marsupial known for looking permanently content. We liked the idea of tools that are small, friendly and unfussy. They do one thing well and get out of your way.
What we believe
- Your files are yours. The best way to protect a file is never to receive it. Every tool here runs in your browser; there is no upload step, so there is nothing for us to store, leak or sell.
- Claims should be checkable. Each tool page tells you how to open the Network tab and confirm that nothing is sent. We bundle all libraries locally and serve a strict Content-Security-Policy so the site cannot quietly phone home.
- Explain the limits. No tool is magic. Each page says what it does not do.
- Small and fast. Plain pages, locally bundled fonts, no trackers, no pop-ups.
Built on open source
QuokkaTools stands on excellent open-source work: pdf-lib for editing PDFs, pdf.js for rendering them, heic2any and libheif for HEIC decoding, exifr for reading EXIF, and fflate for zip files.
How it is funded
The tools are free. To cover hosting we may show clearly labelled advertisements on the educational content around the tools, never inside them, and we may offer optional paid extras later. The core tools will keep working locally. Any change that touches your privacy will be reflected on the Privacy page first.
